How a blind rivet pliers works

Plates/materials you want to join with blind rivets are first provided with a hole, the diameter of which must match the blind rivet. The blind rivet is inserted into the material from one side. Place both plates tightly together and insert the blind rivet into the hole all the way up to the collar. Behind the last plate, the blind rivet should protrude at least 7 mm.
While squeezing the blind rivet pliers, the blind rivet is curled up at the back and forms a collar; this phenomenon is called “curling up”. When the blind rivet is completely raised, the pull pin of the blind rivet will break off after further tightening of the blind riveting pliers. Both plates are now clamped together. The main advantage is assembly from one side, “blind riveting“.

1. Insert the rivet into the blind riveter.

2. If necessary, use a hammer to push the rivet all the way through.

3. Pass the rivet through the hole in the leather strap and the top hole in the PVC pipe.

4. Grasp the handle firmly and press both ends together.

5. The force causes the rivet to break at the level of the constriction.

6. The top of the leather strap is firmly attached.

7. Insert the bolt through the bottom hole of the PVC pipe and the bottom hole of the leather strap.

8. Turn the wing screw on the bolt and tighten it securely.

9. Depending on the size of your hand, you can take the other fixing hole .

4. Inserting the sleeve tube + tightening the aluminium tubes

The tiewrap is basically a thin strip of plastic, ribbed on one side. At one end of the tiewrap you will find the clasp, at the other end of the tiewrap a pointed tip. The clasp contains hooks. Now, when you pull the pointed tip through the clasp, those hooks grab onto the ridges on the tiewrap. This ensures that the tiewrap can only be tightened tighter and you cannot pull it loose.

10. Pass the pointed tip of the cable tie through the bottom right-hand hole in the PVC pipe. Make sure the ridges are on the left side (inside).

11. Pass the pointed tip of the cable tie through the lower holes of the sleeve tube.

12. Then go through the left-hand hole in the PVC pipe again with the pointed tip of the cable tie.

13. Pass the pointed tip of the cable tie through the fastener. Pull gently. Definitely do not fully tighten yet.

14. We will repeat the same operation for the remaining holes. Pass the pointed tip of the cable tie through the top right hole in the PVC pipe. Make sure the ridges are on the left side (inside).

15. Pass the pointed tip of the cable tie through the top holes of the sleeve tube.

16. Then go through the left-hand hole in the PVC pipe again with the pointed tip of the cable tie.

17. Pass the pointed tip of the cable tie through the fastener. Pull gently. You may now fully tighten this cable tie. You may also tighten the lower cable tie.

18. Take the now scissors and cut off the ends of the cable ties.

19. The drumhead is now fully tensioned by pulling down the 8 aluminium tubes. Do this evenly and alternately.

20. When you get to the end, recreate this process. You can use your drumstick to gently pull down the aluminium tubes.

21. Done. Your taurom is now completely finished.
